Free PDF Page Organiser
Free to useNo sign-up requiredNo watermarkRuns in your browser
This free PDF organiser shows every page as a thumbnail so you can see what you are doing. Drag a page somewhere else, turn one that was scanned sideways, duplicate one you need twice, or take out the pages you do not want — then apply the whole lot as a single change.
Nothing happens to the file until you press Apply. That means you can rearrange a forty-page report, change your mind about half of it, and still discard the board without having touched the document.
How this tool works
Open your PDF
Drag it onto the page or click to browse. Every page is rendered as a thumbnail on your own device.
Rearrange the board
Drag a page to a new position, or use the arrows on each card. On a phone the arrows are the way to do it, since dragging is reserved for scrolling.
Rotate, duplicate or delete
Each card has its own controls. Select several pages first to act on all of them at once.
Apply, then download or carry on
Apply writes the new document. From there you can download it, or move straight to watermarking, numbering or compressing it without uploading anything again.
How it works
The thumbnails are rendered by pdf.js, the same engine Firefox uses to display PDFs, running inside your browser. The rearranged document is written by pdf-lib, also in your browser.
Applying builds a new document and copies the pages you kept into it, in the order you put them. Copying rather than deleting matters: removing pages in place leaves their images and fonts behind in the file, so a ten-page document trimmed to one would barely shrink. Copying takes only what is still referenced.
Rotation is stored as a property of the page rather than by redrawing it, so turning a page costs nothing in quality however many times you do it.
Duplicating a page copies the page object. The duplicate can be rotated separately from the original, which is why the two can end up facing different ways.
What the board can do
- Reorder by dragging, or with the arrow buttons on each page.
- Rotate one page or every selected page by a quarter turn at a time.
- Duplicate a page, keeping it in place and inserting the copy after it.
- Delete pages, with the last remaining page protected — a PDF needs at least one.
- Keep only the selected pages, which is the fastest way to pull a section out of a long document.
- Discard the board and start again without having changed the file.
Working on a large document
Thumbnails are rendered one page at a time, so a long document takes a few seconds before the board fills in. The pages appear as they finish rather than all at once, and the controls work before the previews arrive — a page with no thumbnail yet shows its number instead.
Everything is held in the tab’s memory, so the practical ceiling is the memory your browser will give one page rather than an upload limit. Very large scanned documents are the ones most likely to run into it.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is opened and changed by this page on your own device, using your browser. It is never sent to VSThiran and no copy is stored on any server. It is held only in the tab you have open, which is also why reloading the page clears it.
Can I use another PDF tool on the result without downloading it first?
Yes. Once a PDF is open, the other PDF tools pick it up as it currently stands, so you can organise, watermark, number, sign and compress a document from a single upload and download once at the end. Conversions to Word, Excel or images produce a different kind of file, so those finish the sequence rather than continuing it.
Can I undo something?
Yes. Each operation is recorded as a step, and Undo, Redo and Reset move between them. The last few steps are kept rather than all of them, because every step is a full copy of the document and keeping an unlimited number would exhaust the tab’s memory on a large file.
Why does dragging not work on my phone?
Drag-and-drop between elements is a desktop browser feature; on a touch screen the same gesture scrolls the page. That is why every card also has arrow buttons, which do the same job and work everywhere, including with a keyboard.
Does rearranging pages reduce the quality?
No. Pages are copied whole, exactly as they are stored, and rotation is recorded as an instruction to the reader rather than by redrawing anything. Nothing is re-rendered or re-compressed.
