Open toolThe document tools cover the paperwork around getting paid: a quotation to offer a price, an invoice to request payment, and a receipt to confirm it arrived. They share one layout and one totals engine, so a quote and the invoice that follows it look like a matched set and the figures always agree.
Each one produces a real PDF - selectable text and vector rules laid out for A4 - rather than an image of the screen. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many documents you create.
Two calculators sit alongside them. The freelance project cost calculator turns hours, costs, contingency and fees into a client price that still hits your profit margin. The LTV:CAC calculator works out customer lifetime value, the LTV:CAC ratio and CAC payback from revenue, margin, churn and acquisition cost.
Which document do you need?
Quotations, invoices and receipts get confused constantly, and sending the wrong one causes real confusion about whether money is owed.
- A quotation offers a price for work that has not been done yet, and should carry an expiry date. Use the free quotation generator.
- An invoice requests payment for work already delivered, and carries a due date. Use the free invoice generator.
- A receipt confirms that payment has already been made. Use the free receipt generator.
- A single job often needs all three in sequence: quote the work, invoice it on completion, then receipt the payment.
Which business calculator do you need?
- To set a fixed price for a project - covering revisions, software, subcontractors, a contingency buffer and platform or payment fees - use the freelance project cost calculator before you write the quotation.
- To see what a customer is worth over their lifetime, how that compares with your acquisition cost and how many months payback takes, use the LTV:CAC calculator. It converts annual churn to monthly properly and explains the assumptions behind the often-quoted 3:1 rule of thumb.
- For quick margin, mark-up and tax percentages, use the percentage calculator.
Who these free business tools suit
- Freelancers and consultants who invoice a handful of clients and do not need accounting software.
- Small businesses and sole traders who want a professional document without a monthly subscription.
- Contractors and tradespeople who need to quote on site and invoice afterwards.
- Anyone who bills occasionally, where paid invoicing software would sit unused most of the year.
- People who need a document right now and do not want to create an account to get it.
- Founders and marketers checking unit economics without building a spreadsheet model first.
What the tools do and do not remember
Your own business details - name, address, email and phone - are saved in your browser's local storage, so you type them once and every future document starts with them filled in. That is the only thing kept.
Customer names, line items and amounts are never stored, and nothing is ever sent to VSThiran. Close the tab and the document is gone, so download the PDF and file it yourself if you need a copy.
Frequently asked questions
Are these business tools free?
Yes - free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many invoices, quotes or receipts you create or calculations you run.
How should I price a freelance project?
Start from the hours you expect, including revisions, at your hourly rate. Add direct costs and a contingency buffer, then divide by (1 − fee % − margin %) so that platform fees and your profit margin both come out of the final price correctly. The freelance project cost calculator does this and shows the working.
Is the PDF a real document or a screenshot?
A real PDF, laid out for A4 with selectable text and vector lines. You can search it, copy text out of it and print it at full quality.
Is my customer data uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything you type stays in your browser and the PDF is built on your device. Only your own business details are remembered, in your browser's local storage.
What is the difference between an invoice and a receipt?
An invoice asks for payment and carries a due date. A receipt confirms payment has already been made. A customer may need both - one to approve the spend, the other as proof it was settled.
Which currencies are supported?
Over thirty, including AED, SAR, INR, USD, EUR and GBP. Where a currency symbol cannot be encoded by standard PDF fonts, the three-letter code is used instead and you are told beforehand.
Can I add a logo?
Not currently. The documents use a clean typographic header with your business name and details, which is perfectly acceptable on a valid invoice.
