Free Extract Pages from PDF

Free to useNo sign-up requiredNo watermarkRuns in your browser

This free tool takes the pages you choose out of a PDF and makes a new document from them. Select from the thumbnails or type a range, and the pages come out in page order however you picked them.

There are two ways to finish, and the difference is worth understanding. Saving as a separate file downloads the selection and leaves the document you are working on untouched — right for pulling one invoice out of a statement. Keeping only the selected pages trims the working document instead, so the next tool you use gets the shorter version.

How this tool works

  1. Open your PDF

Drag it in or browse for it. It is read on your own device.

  2. Pick the pages

Click the thumbnails or type something like "2, 5-9". The selection count is shown as you go.

  3. Decide which outcome you want

Save as a separate file to download just those pages, or keep only these pages to trim the working document.

  4. Carry on if you need to

If you trimmed the working document, the other PDF tools pick it up from there with no second upload.

How it works

The chosen pages are copied into a new document by pdf-lib, running in your browser. Only the fonts and images those pages actually use come with them, so a three-page extract from a large report is a small file.

Pages always come out in document order. Selecting page 9 before page 2 still produces a file with 2 first, which is what people mean by extracting a range; reordering is what the organiser is for.

The downloaded file is named after the pages it contains, so a folder of extracts stays identifiable without opening them.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is opened and changed by this page on your own device, using your browser. It is never sent to VSThiran and no copy is stored on any server. It is held only in the tab you have open, which is also why reloading the page clears it.

What is the difference between extracting and splitting?

Extracting keeps a selection you choose and produces one file. Splitting is aimed at breaking a document up — either taking a single range out, or bursting the whole thing into one file per page. Use the split tool when you want every page as its own file.

Can I use another PDF tool on the result without downloading it first?

Yes. Once a PDF is open, the other PDF tools pick it up as it currently stands, so you can organise, watermark, number, sign and compress a document from a single upload and download once at the end. Conversions to Word, Excel or images produce a different kind of file, so those finish the sequence rather than continuing it.

Can I extract pages in a different order?

Not here — extraction preserves document order deliberately, so the result is predictable. The page organiser is the tool for putting pages into an order of your choosing, and it can keep only the pages you select at the same time.
