Spreadsheet Data Profiler and Quality Report
Free to useNo sign-up requiredNo watermarkRuns in your browser
Upload a spreadsheet and get a column-by-column picture of it: what type each column holds, how many values are missing, how many are duplicated, and the range and average of the numeric ones.
It also produces a quality score out of 100 - along with the four measurements that produced it, so you can see exactly why it is what it is rather than being handed a number to trust.
How this tool works
Add your spreadsheet
An XLSX, XLS or CSV file. Nothing is uploaded.
Pick the sheet
Every sheet in the workbook is listed with its row count.
Read the profile
Each column shows its detected type, blanks, unique and duplicate counts, example values, and - for numbers - the minimum, maximum, average and total.
Check the score
The quality score breaks down into completeness, uniqueness, validity and consistency, each showing the measurement behind it.
How it works
A column is given a type only when the large majority of its populated values agree. Anything less is reported as "mixed", which is usually the most useful thing to know about a column you were about to match on.
Values with a leading zero, such as "007", are treated as text rather than numbers, because that is what they are - an identifier, not a quantity.
A column whose values are all present and all distinct is flagged as a likely key, which is a good starting point when you need something to match or de-duplicate on.
The quality score is the weighted sum of four measurements: completeness (40), uniqueness (25), validity (20) and consistency (15). Each is shown with the count that produced it. The weights are a judgement, not an industry standard, and the tool says so rather than implying more authority than it has.
Frequently asked questions
Is the data profiler free?
Yes, free with no sign-up.
Is my spreadsheet uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files stay on your device. The workbook is read and processed by your browser, so nothing is uploaded, stored or logged - which matters when the sheet holds customer records, invoices or payroll.
How is the quality score calculated?
Completeness is the share of cells that are filled (40 points). Uniqueness is the share of rows that are not exact duplicates (25). Validity is the share of values matching their column type (20). Consistency is the share of columns with a single clear type (15). Every component is displayed with the counts behind it.
What does a "mixed" column mean?
That the column holds more than one kind of value - text and numbers together, for example. It is a common cause of failed lookups, because a number and the same number stored as text do not match.
What is a likely key column?
A column where every row has a value and no value repeats. Those are the columns worth using to match or de-duplicate on.
